Heart of a Home

I've always heard that the kitchen is the "heart of a home" so naturally I want our new kitchen to be...well, perfect. It must be gracious, inviting, warm, timeless - and so on. Oh...and not a million dollars.

My job as Realtor takes me into some pretty stunning kitchens. I am talking, magazine caliber, jaw dropping, swoon worthy kitchens. Marble backsplashes, granite countertops, wine refrigerators, cappuccino stations...and to think that mere Formica and linoleum were once the gold standard. The bar my friends has been raised. Really high.

I want a kitchen that is beautiful but in an effortlessly cool kind of way. You know the girl who can role out of bed, run her fingers through her hair and look amazing? The girl who exudes style without even trying - who somehow missed the memo that she happens to be stunning. I want her...in a kitchen.

I am obsessed. Poor Darden has learned more about cabinet styles and edging options on granite than he ever wished to know. Tonight I found myself debating between "weathered nickel" or "oil rubbed bronze" hardware.

What I want (today):

Cup Pulls
Huge Island
Industrial inspired lighting
Comfy Bar stools
Subway Tile Backsplash

Welcome Friends

After a two year hiatus from blogging, I'm baaaackkk....
Heaven help us. Farmhouse to home was such a joy back in the day but life marched on and here we are. I could write a country song following the events of the past two years but I will spare you the details. I'm here. I survived. Life is GOOD. There are a ton of amazing characteristics that I unfortunately cannot apply to myself however, I can honestly claim resiliency as my own. I got that. It may not be pretty, I may freak out but dang if I haven't learned to get back up, dust the dirt off my jeans and move on.

Quick catch up.

My lovely husband & I are still loving country life although it doesn't really feel country at all anymore. Things that once seemed novel are now the norm. I shop at the tiny little IGA without even noticing the outdated décor, I simply wait for tractors to pull over and let me pass while driving to work and Tractor Supply has become my version of Target.

In addition to owning my cosmetic boutique, Luxe, I am now a Realtor and love, love, love my new career.

That one horse that I was begging for a couple of years ago has now grown to 5....well, 4.5 because our little Peggy Sue is the size of a Doberman. Our pack has multiplied as well. 5 dogs and lots of cats. The cat situation is a but complicated....farm life, they come, they go, they have kittens, they decide that the farm down the street has better trash...I can say we are currently feeding 6.

In an act of sheer madness, Darden and I have purchased a new home. Typically ones first reaction upon hearing this news is to exclaim "congratulations". Then they see the photos. YIKES. There is a reason (many reasons) that our new home was such a bargain but I am in love and just know it will be amazing.

So for what its worth, here it is. My online journal. The place to sort through my thoughts, share my ideas and ramble on about things that my husband is tired of hearing about.

Missed you!
XO,
Fiquet
